But you wouldn’t say that about any other authority. You obey the country’s laws without meeting or hearing directly from any Chief Justice or President. You’d follow Medium’s guidelines without ever meeting the founder or those who create the policies.
Your problem is not that God may or may not exist. It’s that Christianity insists on putting guardrails when most people just want to drive off cliffs. Who are we to know that staying on the path is better than speeding off it? Right? I mean, what if the car slowly floats down the mountain, lands perfectly on its tires, and drives of into the sunset?
It’s clear where you stand, and where you want to end up. But for those who would like an alternative to hell, God is the answer.
